The King of Indiana Is Crowned

2009 King of Indiana Sprint Series Presents Champion’s Helmet to Brady Short

Brady Short was awarded the unique King of Indiana Sprint Series Champion’s Helmet in ceremonies at Bloomington Speedway Friday night.  The helmet, which features a medieval king in its artwork, is truly one-of-a-kind.  Short allowed that the helmet is highly prized and he didn’t plan to wear it in competition unless it was at a track without any dust, mud or rocks.

This was the third helmet awarded by the KISS track promoters, with previous presentations to Jon Stanbrough for his 2007 and 2008 KISS triumphs.  Like Stanbrough, Short earned his title on the toughest non-wing sprint car ovals in the country.  He captured the fifth round at Tri-State Speedway, and scored three other top-five feature race finishes to edge Stanbrough, a four-time KISS champion, by 22 points.

The KISS Champion’s Helmet is a Simpson Performance Products Vudo model, which provides top-of-the-line safety equipment for Short.  As in previous years, Sprint Car & Midget Magazine, Simpson and Indocil Art are the sponsors of the award.  Both Simpson Performance Products and Sprint Car & Midget Magazine are recognized as established leaders in their fields, with Simpson’s broad safety and racing product base, and the magazine’s reputation for strong feature articles, photos, editorials and race reporting for the past seven years.  Indocil Art’s Noah Ennis produced the unique artwork, as he has for all of the KISS Champion’s Helmets.  In addition to custom artwork for racing helmets, Indocil offers sales and service for a broad range of safety and racing products from their Rock Hill, SC, headquarters.

The King of Indiana Sprint Series is organized and conducted by the individual Indiana sprint car race track promoters to provide the best sprint car racing.  Many thanks to the series sponsors, including Indiana Stone Works in Bedford for the B-Main, Simpson Performance Products, Sprint Car & Midget Magazine and Indocil Art for the KISS champion’s helmet, Elliottbrand Web Designs, in Westport, IN, and Kiva Networking in Bloomington for the KISS website.
